Power Rules of Exponents

There are six power rules in exponentiation and here is the list of the formulas in algebraic form.

Power Rule

$\large {(b^m)}^n \,=\, b^{mn}$

Power Zero Rule

$b^0 \,=\, 1$

Negative Power Rule

$\large b^{-m} \,=\, \dfrac{1}{b^m}$

Radical Power Rule

$\large b^{\frac{1}{n}} \,=\, \sqrt[\displaystyle n]{b}$

Rational Power Rule

$\large b^{\frac{m}{n}} \,=\, \sqrt[\displaystyle n]{b^m}$

Power 1 Rule

$\large b^1 \,=\, b$
