Product Laws of Exponents

There are two fundamental product laws of exponents in mathematics and they are used as formulas in solving the problems. Here is the properties of product rules of exponents in algebraic form.

Same Bases Product Rule

If exponential terms having same base are multiplied, the product of them is equal to the base raised to the power of sum of the exponents.

$\large b^{\displaystyle m} \times b^{\displaystyle n} = b^{\displaystyle \,m+n}$

Same Exponents Product Rule

If exponential terms having same exponent are multiplied, the product of them is equal to the product of the bases raised to the power of the exponent.

$\large b^{\displaystyle m} \times c^{\displaystyle m} = (b \times c)^{\displaystyle m}$
