Power Laws of Exponents

There are six power rules in exponentiation and here is the list of the formulas in algebraic form.

01

Exponent of an Exponential Term

$\large {(b^m)}^n \,=\, b^{mn}$

02

Negative Exponent Rule

$\large b^{-m} \,=\, \dfrac{1}{b^m}$

03

Radical Exponent Rule

$\large b^{\frac{1}{n}} \,=\, \sqrt[\displaystyle n]{b}$

04

Exponent of a Radical Rule

$\large b^{\frac{m}{n}} \,=\, \sqrt[\displaystyle n]{b^m}$

05

Zero Exponent Rule

$\large b^0 \,=\, 1$

06

One Exponent Rule

$\large b^1 \,=\, b$
