A Positive Algebraic Symbol

An algebraic symbol which appears with or without a plus sign ($+$) is called a positive algebraic symbol.

Everything is happening in universe in natural system. So, it is considered as positive system and a plus sign is used to express it in mathematics. Therefore, if something is happened or done naturally, a plus sign is displayed before the quantity.

The possibility of such actions is $100%$ in natural system. So, it is not required to show the plus sign before the quantity. The quantities are denoted by the algebraic symbols as per algebra. Therefore, If an algebraic symbol is appeared with or without a plus sign, it is known as a positive algebraic symbol.

## Example

A girl stood on the floor. Measure the height of that girl. It is measured that the height of the girl is $100$ centimeters. The number $100$ is a quantity which helps us to know how much tall she is.

Earth is the base to everything and we are all living on the surface of the earth. So, the surface of the earth is base to measure the heights and it is the natural method of measuring heights scientifically.

Therefore, measuring the height from the ground to top of her head is the natural direction of measuring height and this natural direction of measuring height is expressed by displayed a positive sign ($+$) before to the number.

In this example, the height $+100$ in centimetres represents that the height of the girl is $100$ centimetres but it is measured from surface of the earth to top of the girl’s head.

Generally, we do everything in natural system. Therefore, no need to display plus sign before the quantity. Therefore, the height of the girl is written as either $100$ or $+100$ centimeters in mathematics.

Assume, the absolute value of the height is denoted by a letter $h$. It means $h=100$.

Therefore, the height of the girl is written in algebraic system by just writing either $h$ or $+h$. Due to having a positive sign before the algebraic symbol, the algebraic symbol $h$ or $+h$ is called a positive algebraic symbol.

Remember, even there is no plus sign before the algebraic symbol, it should be understood that there is a plus sign before to that symbol. In other words, the expression of algebraic symbol $h$ is understood as $+h$ in mathematics.
